Chauvet Cave Revisited, an original painting by artist Janet Kruskamp using oil and mixed media on canvas. A male and female lion rest on a rock in front of a cave wall stone age drawings of lions, bison, deer and elk. Many lions are shown, all in profile, appearing to be heading toward the other animals, suggesting the hunt. The male lion lies across a rock jutting out into the clear cave pool, small stalagmites poking up through the water. The cave paintings are replicated from the amazing Chauvet Cave in southern France, wall drawings depicting animals three hundred centuries ago.
