A colorful anchor tatoo on the dog's arm complete the sailor motif. The recipe for a salty dog drink sits in the lower right corner of the bright sunburst yellow background on a paper scroll. One side of a black bottle is shown along the right side and going off the bottom of the painting. The title SALTY DOG across the top is balanced by the breed BOXER across the bottom.
