The Director, one of the vintage movie poster collection by artist Janet Kruskamp. Painted with a dark rich red background, this tribute to the vision behind Hollywood cinema is both simple and powerful. The director's chair with DIRECTOR across the back holds only the worn pith helmet of the classic Hollywood director. Often working with military precision, some of the early directors acted like field marshals, commanding respect and immediate action. Some of these directors have themselves been the subject of the cinema, showing up in cameo roles or portrayed in thinly veiled characters.
